Welcome to the Lancaster Independent School District
School Board Election 2025

The Lancaster ISD Board of Trustees consists of seven members responsible for establishing policies and promoting educational excellence. Each year, during the organizational meeting to elect officers, the board elects a president, a vice president, and a secretary.

The election of Board members shall be by single-member districts, and the general election shall be on the May uniform election date. To be elected, a candidate must receive more votes than any other candidate for the single-member district.

Election Schedule

Board members shall be elected for three-year terms, with elections conducted annually, as follows: 

Districts 1 and 2: The election for single-member districts 1 and 2 shall be held in 2027, 2030, 2033, and in three-year intervals thereafter.

Districts 3 and 6: The election for single-member districts 3 and 6 shall be held in 2025, 2028, 2031, and in three-year intervals thereafter.

Districts 4, 5, and 7: The election for single-member districts 4, 5, and 7 shall be held in 2026, 2029, 2032, and in three-year intervals thereafter.

The School Board Election 2025 is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2025, for Place 3 and Place 6

Candidate Qualifications (Texas Election Code 141.001)

  • U.S. Citizen

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Resided continuously in the state for 12 months prior to the filing deadline

  • Resided continuously in the school district for 6 months prior to the filing deadline

  • Must be a registered voter in the territory elected from prior to the filing deadline

  • No final felony conviction

  • No final judgment indicating totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right

    to vote

Candidate Information/Resources

Interested candidates may submit a notarized, completed candidate application in person for a position on the ballot from Wednesday, January 15, 2025, through Friday, February 14, 2025, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Lancaster ISD Central Administration Building, 422, S. Centre Avenue, Lancaster, Texas.

To run for a position on the school board, please submit the following forms to complete your application:

  • Application for a Place on the Ballot;

  • Appointment of a Campaign Treasurer; and

  • Code of Fair Campaign Practices.

Key Dates and Deadlines for the May 3, 2025, Election:

  • January 1, 2025 - First day to apply for a ballot by mail using Application for a   

    Ballot  by Mail (ABBM) or Federal Post Card Application (FPCA)

  • January 15, 2025 - First day to File for a Place on the Ballot.

  • February 14, 2025 - Last day to File for a Place on the Ballot for the general election

  • April 3, 2025 - Last day to Register to Vote for the May 3, 2025, general  election

  • April 22, 2025 - First day of Early Voting by Personal Appearance

  • April 22, 2025 - Last day to Apply for Ballot by Mail (Received, not Postmarked)

  • April 29, 2025 - Last day of Early Voting by Personal Appearance

  • May 3, 2025 - Election Day

  • May 9, 2025 - Last Day to Cure Provisional Ballot for Voters Who Did Not Present Photo ID

  • May 14, 2025 - Last Day to Canvass
