Kendrick Brown

August 10, 2023, LANCASTER, Texas --Lancaster ISD is pleased to announce Kendrick Brown has joined the district as the new Director of Athletics. Brown comes to the district with 24 years of education experience and athletics administration.Most recently, Brown served in the dual position of Assistant Athletic Director/Head Football Coach in Little Elm ISD. In April 2022, he transitioned to full time athletic administration. 

As the Assistant Athletic Director at Little Elm ISD, Brown successfully orchestrated the development of an all-encompassing athletic program, effectively expanding the district's sports outreach across various grade levels. Additionally, he has proficiency in overseeing UIL policies and staying abreast of the latest updates, capital outlay projects, and has mentored coaches to develop leadership skills needed to be successful in the realm of high school sports administration. 

Brown's career journey comes full circle as he rejoins Lancaster ISD, where he initially started his football and track coaching career 1997. Over the years he has fostered a culture of accountability, simultaneously forging connections with colleagues, students, and families he has served.

Success is not new to Brown as his leadership and experience was instrumental  in the overall achievement of the Little Elm ISD athletic program during his nine years as the head football coach. Under his coaching leadership, 67 football players signed to play collegiate football and 38 players were honored as academic all-state players. Brown has also coached in DeSoto ISD, Arlington ISD, Lewisville ISD, and Dallas ISD.

His experience in high school sports administration and his ability to mentor and motivate students and coaches will pave the way for continued student success,” Lancaster ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Katrise Perera expressed. “Additionally, Brown's passion for education and collaboration was evident during the selection process. He will confidently put students first and continue our district's rich tradition of success."

Brown has received special recognition in several areas, including Coach of the Year Awards and being named to the next generation coaching ICONS watchlist rated by Rivals.com. Brown has also been a speaker at major sports clinics, including Glazier Clinics, Nike Coach of the Year, San Angelo Clinic, Dallas-Fort Worth Coaches Clinic, Texas Alliance of Black School Educators (TABSE) Conference, & the Interstate I-20 Clinic. 

Brown played collegiate football at the University of North Texas, received a bachelor of science degree from Dallas Baptist University, and a master’s degree in education administration from Texas A&M University at Commerce. He is married to Keisha Brown, and they are the proud parents of two daughters Karmen and Kimberly.
