June 13, 2024, Lancaster ISD/Lancaster,TX--Lancaster Independent School District is pleased to announce the following new head coaches to its athletic programs at Lancaster High School. These individuals bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that will enhance the development and performance of the student-athletes and maintain the district’s high-caliber athletic programs. 

Jeremy Wariner, Head Boys Track Coach

Jeremy Wariner

Jeremy Wariner, a three-time Olympic gold medalist and five-time World Champion, joins Lancaster ISD as the Head Boys Track Coach. Wariner, who dominated the 400 meters for five years as a professional athlete, has an impressive track record, including NCAA titles, gold medals at the Athens and Beijing Olympics, and induction into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. His accomplishments and experience will mesh well with the Lancaster High School track and field tradition. He most recently served as the head track coach at Liberty Christian School.


LaJeanna Howard, Head Girls Basketball Coach

LaJeanna Howard

LaJeanna Howard will take the lead as the Head Girls Basketball Coach with 14 years of coaching experience. Howard’s notable coaching accomplishments include her leading the Duncanville High School Girls Basketball team to a state championship and earning a District Coach of the Year award. With a career win-loss record of 191-29, Howard’s high-energy, and expertise will be invaluable to the Lady Tigers.


LaQuendra Banks, Head Volleyball Coach

LaQuendra Banks will lead the Lady Tiger volleyball program, bringing 13 years of coaching experience. At Wills Point High School and Atlanta High School, Banks achieved notable successes, including leading Atlanta High School’s volleyball program to an undefeated district championship and a regional quarterfinals victory. Banks’ experience and leadership will help drive the volleyball program forward.


Fortune Kacou, Head Boys Soccer Coach

Fortune Kacou, a 14-year veteran of Lancaster ISD as a French and Dual Credit teacher, steps into the role of Head Boys Soccer Coach. Kacou has been instrumental as the Assistant Girls Soccer Coach and is well-respected for his soccer knowledge and coaching skills throughout the DFW area. His experience will greatly benefit our boys' soccer team and overall high school program. 


Rachel Walton, Head Softball Coach

Rachel Walton

Rachel Walton will take the lead as the LHS Head Softball Coach. Walton is a nine-year veteran coach with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. While at Ridgeway High School, Walton’s softball teams reached much success throughout their playoff runs. As a three-sport collegiate athlete, Walton has the experience needed to guide the Lady Tigers to future success.


Malcolm Walker, Head Baseball Coach

Malcolm Walker will step in as Head Baseball Coach at Lancaster High School. Walker joins the program with many years of experience. His dedication to fostering success on and off the field has been demonstrated throughout his 12 years as head coach of the Dallas College Mountain View baseball program. Walker’s coaching philosophy emphasizes both academic and athletic development. His legacy of excellence, mentorship, and student-athlete success will prepare the Tigers to excel.

"Our commitment to providing the best educational and athletic experience for our students is unwavering, and these new head coaches possess the qualities needed to not only achieve success, but also elevate our athletic teams into notable programs."
