Lancaster ISD is pleased to announce Daniel Hernandez as the new principal of Houston Elementary. Before joining Lancaster ISD, Hernandez served as a principal of Andrew Briscoe Elementary. He has also served as Dean of Students at Lamar Fleming Middle School and Sam Houston High School.
“I am looking forward to leading and supporting the educational community of Houston Elementary,” said Hernandez. “It will be my mission to continue its premier school status in our district and surrounding areas.”
Hernandez has served on the Boards of the Association of Hispanic School Administrators and the Houston Association of Secondary Administrators. He led a campus out of Improvement Required (IR) status and created academic systems to sustain academic growth from 2015 to 2017. He also assisted a campus in regaining its “Acceptable” status through academic guidance, monitoring, and leading intervention programs.
“Mr. Hernandez will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our district, and we look forward to him continuing the success of the Houston campus. I want to welcome Mr. Hernandez to our Tiger family and look forward to his leadership,” said Perera.
Hernandez earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston-Downtown. He received his K-12 Standard Principal Certification from the Region IV Principal Program in 2007.
