December 15, 2021 – Lancaster ISD held its monthly School Board meeting Tuesday, December 14. Several events and individuals were highlighted during the meeting.
Student Success Agency Successful Launch
The new district partnership with the Student Success Agency was highlighted following last week’s successful kickoff and launch. Students will now have access to a success agent, who will provide free digital support for mentoring, tutoring, advising, anytime, anywhere.
Lancaster ISD Police Department “Talk Time” Initiative
The Lancaster ISD Police Department’s “Talk Time” Initiative was recognized for its efforts this year. The “Talk Time” events feature professionals within the criminal justice field throughout Dallas County who speak with Lancaster ISD students. The events aim to educate students about different career fields within criminal justice and empower them to develop better decision-making skills. Students speak with the professionals openly and honestly, allowing them to ask questions and understand how their choices now will impact their future.
Code2Create Hackathon Challenge
Lancaster ISD’s Code2Create challenge was highlighted during the board meeting. The event, held Thursday, December 9, at Lancaster Middle School, brought students together from the elementary and middle school campuses for a coding competition. They were split into teams and tasked with building a micro:bit project. The following are the winners from each grade level:
- K- 2 Division: Rosa Parks/Millbrook Elementary,
- 3rd Grade Division: Rolling Hills Elementary,
- 4th Grade Division: Belt Line Elementary,
- 5th Grade Division: West Main Elementary,
- 6th Grade Division: GWC 6th Grade Center Amicus House,
- And 7th Grade Division: LMS Team 3.

The City of Lancaster Proclaims January as School Board Recognition Month
The Mayor of Lancaster, Clyde Hairston, officially proclaimed January 2022 as School Board Recognition Month. We look forward to celebrating and honoring our dedicated board members.
Lancaster Middle School New PTA Officers
Lancaster ISD highlighted the hard work of the parents who formed Lancaster Middle School’s new Parent-Teacher Association to help support the campus. The new PTA officers were recognized and presented with certificates.
Ninth-grade Student Wins Photo Contest Award
Barack and Michelle Obama 9th Grade Center student, Lillianna Conley, was recognized for winning the National Red Ribbon Photo Contest Judges Award for Most Educational Photo. Lillianna won an iPad and the Drug Enforcement Agency will donate $1,000 to the campus.
Lancaster ISD Names November Employee of the Month
Lancaster High School College and Career School counselor, Bevelon White, was recognized as Lancaster ISD’s November Employee of the Month. Ms. White makes sure that every student completes the Dallas Promise Pledge and assists students with college and scholarship applications. Thank you for your hard work, Ms. White!
Interim LHS, LMS Principals Introduced to School Board
Following mid-year staffing changes, the new Interim Principal of Lancaster High School, Derek Stricklin, and the new Interim Principal of Lancaster Middle School, Kirsten Jett, introduced themselves to the Board.
Lancaster High School Choir Performance
Finally, members of the Lancaster High School Choir’s Quintet spread holiday cheer through a special performance for meeting attendees and the Board.
