October 26, 2023 LANCASTER, Texas --As part of their economics and government classes, LHS seniors who are 18 and registered to vote participated in the annual "LHS Stroll to the Polls" event. Over the past six weeks, these students have learned about the voting process and gained insight about current items on the ballot.
With the support of their parents, these students signed up for the opportunity to walk to the polling site at Veterans Memorial Library and cast their very first votes. Learning to exercise this civic right can be intimidating, so we appreciate our LHS teachers for laying the groundwork and preparing our students for this significant milestone. While most of the Class of 2024 is still 17, the prospect of voting has them excited. And for the few that could vote today, the rain did not stop them from being engaged and responsible citizens.
