June 5, 2024, Lancaster ISD/Lancaster, Texas -- The graduating Class of 2024 concluded their high school careers with a celebration of academic excellence on Sunday, June 2 at Curtis Culwell Center. Family and friends gathered to witness the seniors receive their well-earned diplomas as they walked across the graduation stage.
A record number of 579 seniors, the largest graduating class in Lancaster High School history, were met with congratulations from district administrators, school board members, and city of Lancaster officials. In addition to leaving their mark academically, the graduating class earned more than $16.1 million in scholarships and grants.
Valedictorian Christelle Matildo delivered a heartfelt speech where she acknowledged the LHS Early College teachers and staff for their motivation over the years. Matildo also recognized her close friends for the impact they have had on her life over the years, stating, “I wouldn’t be speaking here right now because I would have been too afraid. But y’all gave me so much confidence and turned me into someone I’m proud of.”
Salutatorian Carriana Goins thanked her family and friends for their unwavering support, while expressing words of inspiration to her fellow graduates, “be the person who encourages your group of friends to strive for the greatness that they can achieve and never settle for the minimum.”
The commencement ceremony concluded with tossed caps, cheers, and the LHS alma mater.
The Class of 2024 have proven themselves ready to face what the world has to offer. Congratulations, Seniors! Always remember, once a Tiger, always a Tiger.
